Browne Announces More Than $1.5 Billion in Commonwealth Funding Commitments
Prime Minister says nature and health initiatives demonstrate CHOGM’s potential to deliver tangible benefits.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne says more than $1.5 billion has been raised or pledged through two Commonwealth-related initiatives, pointing to the commitments as evidence that CHOGM 2026 is already delivering results.
Addressing Tuesday’s opening ceremony, Browne announced that the Commonwealth Nature Initiative had attracted more than $200 million, while a health forum had secured over $1.3 billion.
He said the commitments highlight the Commonwealth’s capacity to mobilise investment and support development through collective action.
Browne also urged fellow leaders to turn pledges into practical benefits, stressing that the summit’s success must be measured by improvements in people’s lives.
