Browne Places Youth and Women’s Opportunities at Centre of Commonwealth Agenda
Scholarships, research partnerships and digital access feature in the Prime Minister’s call for inclusive growth.
Prime Minister Gaston Browne says the Commonwealth’s future must be measured partly by the opportunities it creates for young people.
Speaking at the CHOGM opening ceremony, Browne identified scholarships, research partnerships, professional exchanges and access to digital technology as ways to equip the next generation.
He said these opportunities could help young people establish businesses, contribute to scientific discovery and strengthen public institutions.
The Prime Minister also stressed that women must have equal access, free from barriers that constrain their participation.
Browne urged governments, businesses, universities and civil society to work together to turn shared ambitions into practical results.
His comments linked investment in people with the Commonwealth’s wider economic agenda.
He said democracy, human rights, the rule of law and respect for national sovereignty must remain guiding principles as members pursue prosperity and stronger cooperation.
