Antigua and Barbuda’s efforts to bring essential eye care services closer to communities were highlighted during a recent visit by Bloomberg representative Adrienne Pizatella and her team to the Primary Eye Care Unit at the Gray’s Green Community Centre.

The visit was hosted by Minister of Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Service Affairs Michael Joseph, alongside Ambassador Aubrey Webson, who accompanied the delegation on a tour of the facility.

The engagement provided an opportunity for health officials to showcase the development of the unit and highlight the government's ongoing efforts to improve access to vision care across the country.

The Primary Eye Care Unit forms part of a broader national initiative aimed at strengthening eye health services, promoting early detection of vision problems and making essential care more accessible at the community level.

By expanding access to primary eye care, the government is seeking to support earlier identification of eye conditions and improve opportunities for residents to receive timely attention.

The visit also placed attention on Antigua and Barbuda's continued efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery through community-based services.

The Ministry of Health has identified improved access to eye care as an important component of its wider commitment to advancing public health and ensuring that essential healthcare services are available closer to the people who need them.
