India’s Minister of External Affairs, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, has been honoured by the American University of Antigua (AUA) College of Medicine in recognition of his visit to Antigua and Barbuda and the shared commitment to education, healthcare and community development.

The recognition took place during a meet-and-greet hosted by India's High Commissioner to Antigua and Barbuda, H.E. Chinmoy Naik, at the Royalton Resort in Deep Bay, marking the conclusion of the 2026 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

The gathering brought together members of AUA's faculty and representatives of the Indian diplomatic community, providing an opportunity for engagement with the visiting Indian government minister.

On behalf of the university, Daniel Van Brummelen, Executive Vice President of Administration and Chief Financial Officer for AUA and Manipal Education Americas, presented Dr. Jaishankar with a commemorative award.

The inscription recognised the minister's visit and highlighted the shared values connecting the university and India.

“A commemoration of your distinguished visit to The American University of Antigua College of Medicine in recognition of our shared commitment to education, health, and the advancement of communities,” the inscription read.

AUA expressed appreciation to the High Commission of India for organising the gathering and thanked Dr. Jaishankar for taking the time to engage with members of the university community.

The engagement took place as Antigua and Barbuda concluded its hosting of CHOGM 2026, which brought together Commonwealth leaders and international representatives for discussions on cooperation, investment and development.

The occasion provided AUA with an opportunity to recognise the visiting minister while highlighting the importance of international relationships in advancing education and healthcare.
