Dior John, Demi John and Miuccia Floyd are representing Antigua and Barbuda at a three-week training programme in China focused on modern food processing, food safety and reducing agricultural waste.

The course, hosted by Henan University of Technology from November 4 to 24, brings together approximately 25 participants from developing countries.

Training covers grain processing, edible oil extraction, quality control, storage and the use of modern equipment. Participants are also exploring ways to reduce post-harvest losses and turn agricultural by-products into commercially valuable goods.

Classroom sessions will be complemented by visits to laboratories, research facilities and processing enterprises, providing practical insight into commercial food production.

For Antigua and Barbuda, the programme offers knowledge that could support better preservation of locally grown crops, strengthen food production and create opportunities for higher-value agricultural products.
