Patients and families receiving care at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre are benefiting from a donation of essential supplies following a partnership between Antigua and Barbuda’s National Youth Ambassador Kristine Louisa and Barbados’ Ashley Lashley Foundation.
The donation, which included clothing essentials, blankets, diapers and a television, was made to the hospital’s Paediatrics and Social Services Departments, providing additional resources to assist patients and individuals requiring support.

Louisa, who is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Hopeful Hearts Foundation, collaborated with the Barbadian organisation on the initiative, bringing together two Caribbean charitable efforts in support of healthcare and community welfare.
Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre publicly acknowledged the contribution, expressing appreciation to both organisations for their generosity and the impact their assistance can have on people in need.

“Donations are so much more than just the act of giving. Donations are about reaching people and making impacts in the lives of those who need it most,” the hospital stated.
The medical institution also extended special thanks to Louisa and the Ashley Lashley Foundation for their contribution to the two departments.
The donated items are expected to assist the hospital in meeting some of the practical needs of patients and families, particularly those receiving paediatric care or support through the Social Services Department.

The collaboration highlights the role of youth-led charitable initiatives in supporting public institutions and responding to community needs.
Through the Hopeful Hearts Foundation, Louisa has continued to promote community outreach and assistance to vulnerable individuals, while the latest initiative demonstrates the potential for cooperation between charitable organisations across the Caribbean.
The hospital's acknowledgement underscored the importance of donations that extend beyond material contributions, recognising their value in providing support and making a difference in the lives of those who need assistance.
