The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority and the Hawksbill hotel put forth a magnificent display of appreciation for a British couple who have made a remarkable 100 visits to the beautiful islands of Antigua and Barbuda, choosing Hawksbill hotel as their preferred sanctuary.

Tourism Minister Charles Max Fernandez, ABTA CEO Colin C. James, Hawksbill Hotel Resident Manager Mario Thomas, and Clarence ‘Sir Oungku’ Edwards, along with other esteemed officials, gathered on Friday to celebrate Hugh and Jane Campbell’s remarkable loyalty.

This couple has embraced Hawksbill hotel as their ‘home-away-from-home,’ and the entire community was thrilled to honor their extraordinary commitment.

In heartfelt remarks, Minister Fernandez expressed his gratitude to the Campbells for their unwavering choice to return to the islands time and again. He highlighted the vital role that the hotel staff plays in creating a welcoming atmosphere that keeps guests coming back.
“Hawksbill Hotel is truly a gem, captivating visitors with its beauty. Yet, what truly draws guests back is the exceptional service from our dedicated staff. You are the heartbeat of our hospitality, and I take pride in saying you’re among the finest in the Caribbean, if not the world,” he affirmed.

ABTA CEO James chimed in, recognizing the unique elements that entice visitors like the Campbells to repeatedly experience Antigua and Barbuda and Hawksbill hotel.

“Clearly, we’re doing something right. If there were frequent flyer miles for all your stays, you’d be honorary citizens of Antigua and Barbuda!” he said with a chuckle. Resident Manager Mario Thomas conveyed the hotel’s immense respect and gratitude for the Campbells, marking this celebration as a ‘truly remarkable milestone.’ “Today, we honor your choice to make Hawksbill Hotel your sanctuary not just once or ten times, but an incredible 100 times,” he stated with appreciation.

Responding, Hugh Campbell conveyed heartfelt thanks to everyone who gathered to share in their celebration.

He reminisced about the joy he and his wife have experienced during their visits, dating back to the late 1980s.

The celebration was made even more special by the presence of Clarence ‘Sir Oungku’ Edwards, leader of the Burning Flames band, whose music the Campbells have cherished during Carnival time at the Lion’s Den.

As a token of appreciation, the Campbells were presented with a delightful gift basket filled with local treats, a stunning painting of Hawksbill Beach by local artist Stephen Murphy, a commemorative plaque honoring their 100th visit, and a beautifully illustrated book, “Antigua and Barbuda: Absolutely Beautiful,” showcasing breathtaking photography by Joseph Jones.
