Jamaican Pilot dies after small plane crashes

Major Dudley Beek, the pilot of a single-engine aircraft that crashed in the Whitehall area of Tremlsonsworth near Highgate in St Mary has died

Police in Jamaica told reporters that the crash happened in a parish located in the northeast section of Jamaica.

The plane went down according to the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA in the hilly interior of that community.

President of the Jamaica Aircraft Operators and Pilots Association, Edward Miller said the country has lost one of the pillars of aviation.

The other occupant of the aircraft is hospitalized, but the injuries are not life-threatening, according to reports.

Residents spotted the aircraft who were instrumental in the search and rescue efforts.

It is suspected that the aircraft experienced engine problems.
