Antigua and Barbuda is expected to receive a boost in tourist numbers as Royal Caribbean plans to build a beach club at Fort James for over $100 million.
The beach club will be primarily offered to passengers on board Royal Caribbean cruise vessels, providing them with a place to spend the day when they arrive in the morning and leave in the afternoon.
The beach club has been in the works for some time, with plans dating back to 2020.
The construction cost was initially estimated to be between $75-$100 million. However, inflation in the cost of construction materials has caused an increase in the overall cost.
Construction is expected to begin in 2024 after finalizing dialogue in the fourth quarter of this year.
Despite the construction, the beach will remain open to the public. The increase in homeporting and the expected arrival of Oasis-class ships are expected to bring more visitors to Antigua, and the beach club is just one of the many areas that will be available for visitors to spend the day.
WONDERFUL NEWS!!!! Kudos to this ABLP government headed by the HON. GASTON BROWNE. Special thanks to HON. CHARLES “MAX” FERNANDEZ and his hardworking team of Tourism personnel
