A Golden Grove man has been fined $2700 for stabbing a man in July 2021.

Amanaki John admitted to unlawful wounding last week.

The charges against John, which date back to July 8, 2021, pertained to the wounding of Alexta Francis from Golden Grove New Extension.

The altercation occurred at Big Creek two days before John’s arrest. A bystander captured the incident on camera, and the footage was widely circulated on social media.

The dispute between the two men escalated, eventually leading to John arming himself with a sharp object, which he used to inflict multiple wounds on Francis.

Francis, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries, was promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention.

During a recent appearance in the High Court before Justice Tunde Bakre, John pleaded guilty but was just sentenced today.

He has to pay the fine by December 6 or he could spend a year in jail.
