Threcia Thorpe, a Spa Therapist at Sandals Grande Antigua Resort and Spa, has shared her inspiring success story with others on the importance of embracing learning and development opportunities that companies provide for their team members.

According to Thorpe, such opportunities can play a significant role in an individual’s personal and professional growth, leading to eventual success in their career.

Having worked at the regional resort chain for the past 15 years, Thorpe has been actively engaged in various professional development courses offered by the Sandals Corporate University (SCU).

This innovative corporate strategy is focused on building the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of Team Members, developing future leaders for Sandals.

Thorpe expressed her delight in the hospitality courses she has undertaken throughout her tenure with the company, which have helped her achieve her personal and professional development goals.

She emphasized that the courses are well-structured, timely, and have motivated her to gain additional international certification. Her goal is to become a spa manager in the future.

Sandals Corporate University is breaking new ground in the Caribbean by offering a unique opportunity for the resort’s team members.

It is the first university of its kind in the region, providing a chance for every team member to receive certification.

Sandals General Manager David Latchimy added that this is a game-changer for employees who have a desire to advance themselves through education and training.

The SCU offers a wide range of programs, catering to the diverse needs of its employees.

From basic hospitality-specific training to advanced degrees, the university has something for everyone. By partnering with internationally recognized universities, professional organizations, and local educational institutions, the SCU ensures that its programs are of the highest quality and meet industry standards.

Thorpe, who is now currently enrolled in a program in Spa and Salon Management at the Spa Education Academy in England, encourages her colleagues and fellow team members to take advantage of the courses available on SCU’s interactive learning platform.
