Sir Viv Richards Cricket Stadium undergoes major facelift ahead of World Cup Cricket.

Significant upgrades have been completed at the Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium in preparation for Antigua’s hosting of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Antigua & Barbuda, along with Barbados, Guyana, St Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, and St Vincent & The Grenadines, will host matches during the T20 World Cup 2024 from June 4 to 30.

For the first time, the USA will also co-host the event, with venues announced in Grand Prairie (Dallas), Broward County (Florida), and Nassau County (New York).

Black acknowledged the high costs involved in these upgrades and expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Finance for their efforts. He is hopeful that all preparations will be completed by the end of May.”

The government has invested significantly in upgrading seating, lighting, stands, bathroom facilities, and other amenities at the stadium.

Stadium Manager Keithroy Black discussed the efforts to rectify the scoreboard issue, saying, ‘The issue we had was shipping. We now have everything on the ground, although it took longer than we expected. That is now with Mr. Watkins and the contractor responsible for replacing them.
