The Ministry of Education, Sports and the Creative Industries is hosting a series of adjudication workshops featuring renowned regional adjudicator Ms. Nubia Williams.
Ms. Nubia Williams, a seasoned Music Educator and Arts Adjudicator, has been judging Steelband, Calypso, and Soca music competitions for twenty-nine years.
In the last two months, she has evaluated hundreds of participants across various categories, including Calypso, Pan-solo, Folk, Drumming, Choir, and Steelband at the Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival.
The workshops in Antigua aim to foster continuous improvement, analysis, and the adoption of varied adjudication techniques.
Sessions focusing on Calypso and Steelband will cater to new and existing Calypso judges, Calypsonians, Steelband judges, and arrangers. The workshop schedule is as follows:
Calypso Adjudication Training Workshop:
- For Calypso Judges: Tuesday, 25th June – 9:45 am to 3:00 pm
- For Calypsonians: Tuesday, 25th June – 9:45 am to 12:30 pm
- For Calypso Judges: Wednesday, 26th June – 9:45 am to 3:00 pm
Steelband Adjudication Training Workshop:
- For Judges: Friday, 28th June – 9:45 am to 3:00 pm
- For Steelband Arrangers: Friday, 28th June – 9:45 am to 12:30 pm
- For Judges: Saturday, 29th June – 9:45 am to 3:00 pm

Additionally, persons interested in adjudicating any 2024 Carnival Competitions are encouraged to register. Registration forms for judging Carnival 2024 Competitions are available at the Ministry of Creative Industries office on Old Parham Road or by contacting the office at (268) 562-9606.
Ms. Williams looks forward to interacting with participants and collaborating with all stakeholders to enhance the development of our nation, particularly in the realms of Calypso and Steelband.
