In a welcome announcement for public sector workers, the government has indicated plans to provide an extra month’s salary just in time for the festive Christmas season.
During a recent appearance on the Browne and Browne show, Prime Minister Gaston Browne, who also serves as the Minister of Finance, addressed inquiries about outstanding back pay for public servants.
He revealed that he has directed his team at the ministry headquarters to actively seek out the necessary funds to facilitate this additional salary disbursement for the month of December.
This forthcoming extra payment is not merely a holiday bonus; it represents a portion of the back pay owed to public servants due to a fourteen percent salary increase instituted nearly two years ago.
Prime Minister Browne’s commitment to ensure this payout highlights the government’s recognition of its financial obligations to those serving in the public sector, especially during the holiday season into effect nearly two years ago.
