The Ministry of Finance is now receiving some of the invoices that have been submitted by personnel who are contracted by the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) to assist with the collections and proper disposal of garbage in the country.
The review has become necessary as according to Prime Minister Gaston Browne, some contractors have allegedly submitted invoices for payments while their trucks are inoperable.
The government has recently purchased 10 new trucks to assist with the collection to fill the gaps left by some of these very same contractors.
Speaking on a programme Community Matters with host JTruth the Engineer, the Prime Minister said the aim of the revision is to rationalize some of those bills which date back to previous administrations to see how they could be settled.
“We believe we can get them down by 50 percent and we can then issue a bond to make sure that going forward, probably somewhere in 2025 they will get paid on a regular basis,” PM Browne said.
