A 2020 beach assault case will finally go to trial in February 2025.
The male defendant, then 19, allegedly lured his then 29-year-old victim to Dove Trail Beach after agreeing to sexual activity as repayment for a $100 debt.
According to charges, during the encounter, the defendant attacked the victim with a concealed knife, slashing his throat and stabbing him multiple times.
The victim managed to wrestle away the weapon and drive himself to hospital.
The defendant, who met the victim on social media and had previously received various favours from him, denies charges of attempted murder and wounding.
The trial’s latest delay came at his lawyer’s request, pushing the date to more than five years after the incident-February 3.
