Intra-regional travel is soaring to new heights as LIAT20 takes the Caribbean by storm

On Tuesday, the airline jubilantly launched its direct flights to Georgetown, Guyana, marking a significant milestone in Caribbean connectivity.

The flight, featuring Prime Minister Gaston Browne alongside a host of dignitaries, tourism representatives, and LIAT executive staff, landed at the Cheddy Jagan International Airport at 3 PM to an enthusiastic welcome from top aviation officials and proud airport staff.

A water salute and military parade also formed part of the grand welcome

Prime Minister Browne confidently declared that LIAT20 is stronger and more resilient than its predecessor, LIAT 1974 Ltd.

“This airline is debt-free and here to stay,” he said.

Reflecting on past challenges, Browne said the previous company wasn’t capitalized correctly, leading to its downfall. He said LIAT 20 is not only debt-free but also more organized and strategically positioned to become the number one carrier in the Caribbean.

LIAT has consistently been a crucial link between the various Caribbean islands, playing an essential role in travel and trade among these vibrant destinations.

PM Browne affirmed that travelers can look forward to LIAT 20’s dedication to enhancing regional travel and connecting communities across the Caribbean.

He said this initiative aims to sustain and strengthen the relationships between the islands, making travel more accessible and seamless for all.

PM Browne told those gathered for the welcome ceremony that LIAT 20 will remain committed to regional travel, hinting that plans could be made to consolidate other regional carriers.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer Hafsah Abdulsalam isn’t just focused on the passenger experience; she’s eager to build stronger ties with Guyana.

She also vowed that LIAT20 will offer the most competitive fares in the region, making travel more accessible than ever.

Ambassador Davin Joseph recalled the echoes of concern when LIAT 1974 Ltd ceased operations.

“People were worried about our ability to connect within the Caribbean. But our Prime Minister answered the call to launch LIAT20, bridging islands and establishing links with Africa!” Intra-regional travel is getting more exciting by the minute as LIAT20 continues to extend its services through the Caribbean.

LIAT20 has six aircraft, with a 125-seater to be added soon. LIAT20 will soon be able to offer services outside of the Caribbean

Not while leaders like Gaston Brown are in power. Our lands will soon be in foreign hands at the rate he is going.
