NOTICE from Antigua and Barbuda Customs and Excise Division

Please be advised that the Christmas Barrel Initiative will be in effect from December 1, 2024, to January 15, 2025.

Under this initiative, each household will be permitted to import the following items in either a standard-sized shipping barrel or an E-Container for personal use:

  • Clothing – limited to no more than seven (7) pieces of the same type,
  • Foodstuff
  • Toiletries.

Please note that a 10% Revenue Recovery Charge (RRC), along with a processing and handling fee of ten dollars (10.00 XCD,) will apply.

    Seven (7) pieces of clothing the same type. So this doesn’t apply to large family members. Some people have more than seven (7), and include themselves which gives them a total of nine (9) in the household. If you have a niece or nephew living with you, then them na count.

    And remind port workers not to strike in December. They have a nasty habit especially when people awaiting their Xmas barrel.

    Revenue Recovery???? What does that even mean? Especially in light of the spirit of this initiative?

    I think they meant that more than 7 clothes can be cleared under the dollar barrel policy, but shouldn’t be the same
