Ministry of Education Launches Second Satellite Meals Kitchen to Enhance National School Meals Programme

St. John’s Antigua – January 08, 2025

The Ministry of Education is proud to announce the official launch of the second Satellite Meals Kitchen under the National School Meals Programme (NSMP) on Wednesday, January 08, 2025, in the Freetown Village.

This undertaking aligns with the department’s expansion project, which partially fulfils NSMP’s mandate to provide nutritional meals to the most vulnerable in Antigua & Barbuda within the public primary educational institutions. In addition, this strategic approach utilized by the management of the department will further facilitate the quest to maintain and provide quality goods and services to its customers in the most efficient manner, showcasing NSMP’s ability to improve efficiency and productivity as the country’s leading production hub within the educational sector. As the department experiences excessive growth over the past years with a projection for a continued pattern in the upcoming years, management has identified the need for diversification of services to accommodate the flexibility in the market trends.

This new method projects the revised aim of the NSMP department in delivering meals in the form of breakfast and lunch on time while satisfying the maintenance of quality that can be impacted by mass production. The department thrives on providing quality goods while ensuring that all students within the primary schools gain access to two nutritional meals in-take daily. The Freetown Satellite Kitchen will serve schools in the eastern zone, including but not limited to Freetown Primary, Newfield Primary, and the government preschool in Bethesda. It will later be extended to villages such as Pares and Willikies.

I must congratulate the ministry for expanding this project and I am hoping that it will eventually cover all the schools in need of such a program.. Now when are you going to work on the school uniforms by increasing the amount you give a child???
