Tragically, a one-year-old girl has lost her life after a heartbreaking incident at her home in New Winthorpes on Wednesday.
According to reports from local police, the young child and her mother were in the residence when the accident occurred.
The mother has recounted the sequence of events, explaining that her daughter fell into a cistern located on the porch area of their house.
In a frantic search for her little girl, the mother noticed her absence and began to call out for her.
It was during this desperate search that she discovered her daughter submerged in the shallow water of the cistern.
Immediately recognizing the grave situation, she quickly summoned help, and the child was rushed to the hospital just after midday. Unfortunately, despite the urgent medical attention, doctors pronounced the child dead shortly after arrival.
