Tobago Child Protection Unit (CPU) detectives have charged a 41-year-old man with one count of exposing a child to pornography and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of an eight-year-old boy.

The accused was instructed to stay away from the boy’s school and residence as well as to report to his local police station thrice per week as part of his bail conditions set at $100,000 with a surety.

He was granted bail by a Scarborough Magistrate on November 11, and will reappear before the court on December 9, to answer the charges.

The charges were laid on November 10, by PC Thomas of the Tobago CPU following a June 2022 police report in which a woman told police of the incident.

According to the boy’s mother, the child said that on a day unknown between December 31, 2019, and January 1, 2021, the accused masturbated in the presence of the child while watching pornographic material on a television.

A subsequent investigation supervised by Superintendent Claire Guy-Allyene, Assistant Superintendent (Ag) Seepersad and Insp Miller of the CPU resulted in the arrest of the man. (Source Loop).
