The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is yet to question the Nigerian man, who attacked security at the official Presidential residence in Georgetown.

Bethel Ikena Chimezie, the suspect, continues to be treated for his injuries, and based on the most recent update from the doctor in whose care he remains, he is still on a ventilator.

Police shot Chimezie after he entered the grounds of State House armed with a knife.

Chimezie was shouting “I want the President” when he attacked guards on Thursday.

Chimezie allegedly stabbed a member of the presidential security detail, who was identified as Telon Perreira.

Perreira remains warded at hospital.

GPF continues to work with international agencies to determine a motive for the incident. (Loop)
