Motorists are being advised that it is an offense to place stickers on the front of their windshield as it could impede their vision. Anyone found doing so will be ticketed.
Corporal Brendon Sutherland of the Traffic Department intimated that in years gone by members of the Antigua and Barbuda Transport would have permitted the use of personalized stickers bearing the names of individuals or customized ones to be placed at the top of windshield.
However, this has been exacerbated by drivers now placing oversized on the bottom of their windshields.
“Some stickers have been so broad that it is impeding their vision when they are driving. I recently noticed that people even had stickers with their names in the middle of their windshields.
“We want to advise them that under the Vehicle and Road Traffic Act to have any form of stickers and advertisement on their windshield or any side glass. We want to advise drivers to place these, especially at the bottom of their windshields as it is a traffic violation”, Sutherland said.
He said people who are found violating the law, and who refuse to comply could have their vehicles impounded and taken back to the transport board for inspection.
The traffic boss is also urging drivers of government vehicles to visit a team at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium where an audit is being conducted.
Once the vehicle is audited, they would receive an audit sticker. Drivers without the sticker will be barred from receiving petrol at the Government motor pool.
All drivers of government vehicles are expected to comply.
