The sky is the limit for Dr. Shivon Belle-Jarvis; the head of the pediatric department at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Center, who today Monday, received a Masters of Science Neonatology Degree from the University of Southampton.
“The right start to life is crucial. Every baby should benefit from essential newborn care. What better way to assist in improving the quality of health care within our twin island state than focusing on the first 28 days of life; that stage which is foundational to all others?” Dr Belle-Jarvis told Antigua.news earlier today
She said learning is continuous and remains the eye through which any country will accomplish its mission.
“Every opportunity to learn therefore must be embraced so that no one in Antigua and Barbuda is left behind,” she added.
The Health Ministry has congratulated Dr. Belle-Jarvis who completed the course with merits over a period of three years.
She admitted that it was very difficult to navigate her studies during the Covid-19 pandemic but according to her, God, family, and friends made a major difference in ensuring that she had all the support she needed to get through
Earlier this year, Dr. Belle-Jarvis was accepted into Harvard University to pursue a Master’s Degree at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.
She joined the class entering the 2023-2024 academic year as a candidate for the Part-Time Master of Public Health Generalist program and is expected to graduate on May 29, 2025.
Kudos to Dr. Belle Jarvis.
Her Commitment and Perseverance can only hint at the many Sacrifices she had to make to achieve such Self-discipline.
Her focus and compulsion to achieve in this particular field, tells of her LOVE of LIFE, HUMANITY, and the ADVANCEMENT of the same.
Like most GIFTED and DEDICATED people, she recognizes the value of perpetual learning, even as she gives herself IN THE SERVICE OF HER PEOPLE AND SOCIETY.
Dr. Belle Jarvis is one of the many GIFTS that GOD HAS GIVEN TO ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA.
I pray that we will all recognize our GOOD FORTUNE, and endeavor to encourage and support her, as she advance IN OUR SERVICE.
Please do not allow the DEMONS OF JEALOUSY AND ENVY TO DESTROY SUCH DEDICATION.
Remember. SHE COULD HAVE JOINED THE “BRAIN DRAIN.”
Congratulations to you ma’am. Your accomplishments speak volumes to your dedication to your calling. The twin nation of Antigua and Barbuda is blessed to have you.
