The family of Mannie James, the Bendals resident killed during a police chase recently, has organized a beachside vigil in his memory.

The event is expected to take place at Jolly Beach from 4 pm. James operated Jet Skies on the beach.

James lost his life due to gunfire inflicted by law enforcement officers in Grays Farm. This tragic incident followed a high-speed pursuit from a routine stop-and-search procedure on Lauchland Benjamin Drive.

According to witnesses, James was shot as he tried to escape on foot while the vehicular pursuit concluded.

The police have revealed that a coroner’s inquest has been commissioned to ensure complete transparency and called for the public’s support throughout the process.

A close friend of James, who lives in Brooklyn, New York, has also organized a GoFundMe page in his name.

“His unwavering dedication to bringing joy and laughter to all he encountered created a legacy that will forever live on in our hearts. We are coming together to support Manny’s children during these challenging times as a community. The funds raised will not only contribute to the eventual funeral costs once the investigation is complete but will also provide vital support for his children in the upcoming months”, the organizer wrote.

Adding, “ Let’s rally around this cause to ensure that Manny’s children are able to find strength and stability during this difficult period. Please consider making a donation, big or small, to help us provide the care and assistance that Manny’s children need. Every contribution will make a meaningful impact, helping to ease the financial burden they now face.”

It also read, “together, we can honor Manny’s memory by ensuring that his children continue to receive the love and support their father would have provided. To donate, please follow the easy steps to contribute. Your generosity will be remembered as a beacon of light during this dark time. Let’s come together as a community to celebrate the life of Mr. Manny James and to uplift his children as they navigate the challenging journey ahead.”
