Antigua’s former Crown Counsel to take up top post in St Kitts and Nevis

By Aabigayle McIntosh

Former Crown Counsel and head of law reform in the Ministry of Legal Affairs Adlai Smith has been promoted to a high position in another Caribbean Country.

Smith will be traveling to St Kitts and Nevis at some point to occupy the post of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP)

His application, according to the Kittian media was submitted through the Regional Judicial and Legal Services Commission’s website, and underwent a rigorous selection process, culminating in a successful interview conducted in July.

His imminent move from Antigua to St. Kitts represents a significant moment in Antigua’s legal landscape, they said

It was also noted that in the past Smith had previously applied for the DPP position in Antigua and Barbuda.

However, reports suggest that his application received no response.

In the new role, Smith will work closely with another experienced Antiguan, LaToya Lake, who has been overseeing St. Kitts and Nevis’ forensics department for the past three years.

  1. Dear Editor,

Permit me to be The First to Congratulate CROWN COUNSEL Adelai Smith for His Successful Journey to the Position of Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

Having Known His Family, and teaching his Sister (famously known as Dr. Goldsmith) at CKHS, I am Not Surprised that Adelai’s Career Path has led him (in a considerably Short Period of time) to Such A Prestigious Position in his Chosen Field of Endeavour!

I am told that some Jurisdictions require their DPP to be qualified at the K C or Q C level to be Considered for THIS Position. All the More Kudos to CROWN COUNCIL Adelai Smith for being selected from among the number of Applicants vying for This Prestigious Position.

A Prophet is Never Welcomed in His own Town and Among His own People!! Only God Knows Why; because Jesus himself, during His Time with us here on Earth, also experienced THIS phenomenon!!!

Godspeed Council Smith (soon to be Addressed as DPP Adelai Smith), I am imagining your Mom looking down on you with Such Glee!!! She has been and continues to be Your Protector! You would have made an EXCELLENT DPP for your Nation ANU/BAR!!

The Federation of St. Kitts & Nevis’s GAIN is Sadly ANU/BAR’s LOSS. —— as in the situation of An Excellent Graduate of CKHS (SJA is CKHS’s Brother School) referred to in this article.

The Question I would like to ask of Persons in the Government Administration of ANU/BAR: “Please explain to me Exactly what BEEF do You People have You People have Against EXCELLENCE?” Peace! 🌻😇
