Tourism Ministry and ABTA Working with Bert Kirchner on Proposed Louis Tomlinson Campaign
Minister Michael Freeland has held talks on the project, which aims to turn international exposure into visitor interest and bookings.
Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism, Michael Freeland, has held discussions with Bert Kirchner and the project team about a proposed tourism campaign linked to Louis Tomlinson’s music and documentary project.
Kirchner is serving as the organisers’ point of contact, partnering and working closely with the Ministry of Tourism and the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority.
The initiative aims to generate travel interest and bookings through destination storytelling, social media content and fan engagement.
Vertigo Live presented the proposal to Cabinet on October 14, estimating that the campaign could generate approximately £3.7 million in additional visitor spending over three years.
The presentation also included an illustrative estimate of approximately £1.4 million in equivalent media exposure. Cabinet noted that both figures were projections rather than guaranteed financial returns.
Under the proposal, a 12-month promotional programme would feature approximately 12 to 16 short-form social media videos, alongside content highlighting Antigua and Barbuda’s tourism offerings.
The proposal also envisages exploring cooperation with airlines, hotels, travel platforms and other tourism businesses to help translate audience interest into visits. British Airways was identified as a potential participant in discussions, although no partnership with the airline has been confirmed.
Cabinet supported further engagement on the initiative, with financial contributions and promotional commitments still to be determined.
The Cabinet report did not disclose the overall production budget, any proposed government contribution or the assumptions underpinning the visitor-spending projections. Those details remain to be clarified before any partnership is finalised.
