Military funeral for late Constable Robert Dyer to be held this week

Constable Robert Dyer

By Zya Williams

On Tuesday, officers of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda (RPFAB) and the family and friends of the late Constable Robert Dyer will come together to celebrate his life.

Constable Dyer tragically died in a motorcycle accident on September 4, around 11:20 am, while on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway near Luna Park.

According to Corporal Brendan Sutherland, a traffic cop, Dyer’s motorcycle collided with a green Jeep Wrangler, and regrettably, the 39-year-old resident of Willikies passed away at the scene.

The news of his passing sent shockwaves through the police force, leaving them in grief.

Corporal Sutherland, who had known Constable Dyer for over a decade and closely collaborated with him for two years, described him as a patient and fascinating individual to work with. He also noted Dyer’s deep passion for riding his motorbike.

Constable Dyer had previously sustained a broken leg in June 2020 following a collision with a container truck near the Sagicor Life Building.

To honor his memory, Constable Dyer will be given a military funeral on October 3 at the Swetes Wesleyan Holiness Church.

Tributes begin at 1pm and the Thanksgiving service at 2pm.
