An elderly woman in Jamaica is expected to stand trial on February 26, 2024, accused of defrauding her former employers of $56 million.

Delcita Bachelor, a retired cashier employed at Worthy Park Estates in St Catherine, had her bail extended during a court appearance.

She was charged with embezzlement following a police investigation.

Prosecutors indicated that the matter was ready to proceed to trial, and the presiding judge subsequently set the date.

According to court documents, Bachelor worked as a cashier at the company for over 50 years until her retirement in November 2021.

An audit of the company’s books revealed that $56 million could not be accounted for after she retired.

Police investigators were brought in, and Bachelor was later arrested and charged.
