Three skilled Antiguan bakers have not only conquered two challenging rounds but have also successfully secured coveted spots in the finals of the inaugural Caribbean Baking Awards.
The talented individuals making waves in this fierce competition are Shaarah Jackson Lawrence of ‘Creative Confections,’ Philip Kapcio, the creative genius behind ‘Philton’s Cakery,’ and Timoy Titus, the artisan from ‘Teez Delights.’
These talented bakers, representing Antigua and Barbuda, are among the finalists from across the Caribbean eagerly vying for the chance to cop titles next year.
Timoy Titus, who received multiple nominations at the beginning of the competition, including Best Wedding Cake, Best Butter Rum Cake, Best Cookie Art, Cake Hero, Baker of the Year (Small Business), and Cake Artist of the Year, has successfully advanced to the finals in every nominated category.
Shaarah Jackson Lawrence, initially competing for the title of Caribbean Rising Star Baker, aspired to be recognized as the creative force behind the best butter rum cake. She has secured a spot in the finals for the latter category.
Meanwhile, Philip Kapcio, initially nominated in three distinct categories—Best Bakery Shop of the Year, Baker of the Year, and Cake Artist of the Year—now contends for the Best Bakery Shop of the Year award.
While the preliminary and semi-final rounds relied on public votes, the final round will see a panel of judges meticulously assessing the work, including pictures, from all participating bakers.
These scores will be combined with the public votes to determine the ultimate winners.
The grand reveal of the winners is scheduled for February 17, 2024, during an awards ceremony in Tortola.
The achievements of these three Antiguan bakers stand as a testament to their skill, creativity, and dedication in the realm of baking excellence.
