Young Calypso sensation Ge’Eve Phillip departed Antigua for Montserrat on Wednesday. She will be representing the island in the Queen of Queens Calypso Show to be held on the Emerald Island this coming Saturday.

The calypso competition is expected to attract talented female calypsonians from across the Caribbean to vie for the title of queen of queens. They will be seeking to dethrone reigning Queen Teri Lyons.

Phillip who has won the junior calypso crown several times over on the local scene says she is looking forward to representing Antigua.

“It’s always a great opportunity to be called on to rep Antigua and fly the flag high just by using my talent that the father God above has blessed me with, so, I am looking forward to this completion”, Phillip said.

Phillip was asked to represent the island by officials from the National Festivals Commission. Speaking to state media before her departure she stated she was looking forward to the experience.

She also told other young people in the industry to,” Be focused and always stand firm to constructive criticism, it will come, remain focus and ready to receive it”, Phillip said.
