In remembrance of the late Director of the Central Board of Health, Albert “Kentae” Semper, family and friends are set to gather at the Bendals playing field and basketball court for a poignant candlelight vigil later today.
Community activist and close friend of Semper, Jason “Bassue” Peters, revealed that the vigil will unfold in a unique format.
Family members and villagers will assemble at the community bus shed at 6:00 pm, while another group of close friends and supporters will convene at the Townhouse Mega Store at 5:45 pm.
The solemn event will feature heartfelt anecdotes shared by several individuals, paying tribute to the beloved talk show host affectionately known as “Rastaman Kentae.”
Semper, who tragically passed away at the age of 61, was discovered unresponsive in his Toyota RAV4 on December 2, reportedly succumbing to a medical emergency while driving in Bendals.
Pastor Fitzgerald Semper, his brother, affectionately described him as compassionate yet direct.
Colleagues at the Central Board of Health recognized him as a passionate advocate for the well-being of the board’s employees.
The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party also extended condolences, with Prime Minister Gaston Browne celebrating Semper as a true stalwart and friend, acknowledging his contributions to the party on his Pointe FM radio program.
A final farewell is planned for Semper on January 10 at the Ebenezer Methodist Church, commencing at 1:00 pm.
