A man has been transported to the hospital after sustaining a gunshot injury to his hand.

The incident occurred when the said individual allegedly assaulted a law enforcement officer at a casino in St John’s, employing stones and a machete as weapons.

The assailant was subsequently shot by the officer shortly after 9 PM on Saturday evening.

Presently, an investigation is underway to examine the circumstances surrounding this occurrence.
