A Bendals man, 37-year-old Damar Stapleton, is now behind bars at His Majesty’s Prison after being hit with multiple serious drug charges.

Law enforcement officials uncovered 41 pounds of cannabis, with an estimated value of $246,000, at the Deep Water Harbour last week and took Stapleton into custody.

The drugs were discovered during a joint operation by the police and customs at the main seaport.

The marijuana was found in two boxes.

On Monday, Stapleton was formally charged with drug trafficking and importation of 41 pounds of cannabis, possession of the controlled drug, possession with intent to transfer, and being involved in the supplying of the drug.

Stapleton appeared before a Magistrate on Tuesday and was remanded to prison. His committal hearing is scheduled for July 9th.
