Judge finds Mary John guilty of posting false information on social media

Justice Ann Marie Smith has found community activist Mary John guilty of two charges related to posting false information.

John, who lawyer Justin Simon KC represented, pleaded not guilty to sending false information by means of an electronic system for the purpose of causing insult and hatred to a woman.

But after a brief judge alone trial she was convicted of the charge which could see her serving jail time or paying a fine when sentenced on April 30.

It is alleged that on October 5, 2021, John posted an image of a woman on social media alleging her to be the suspected killer of Piccadilly resident Jane Finch.

    Finally I can remember years ago she was on ZDK accusing Security Officers of searching Sir Lester Bird at a cricket match in Recretion Ground Which was blatant lie. Hope and trust she learn her lesson well.
