Foriegn Affairs Minister E.P Chet Greene
Foreign Affairs Minister E.P Chet Greene has provided a comprehensive update on the preparations for the upcoming SIDS4 Conference, scheduled to be held from May 27 to 30 in Antigua.
The Minister informed the Cabinet that all necessary arrangements have been made to accommodate the Presidents and Prime Ministers who will be attending the conference.
The Minister also highlighted that CDRA India has agreed to fund 15 leaders, along with its own delegation, while IRENA will fund 8 leaders and the USA will fund 14 leaders and its own delegation.
This will help ensure that all the leaders who attend the conference are well taken care of and can focus on the important issues being discussed.
Given the small size of the host country, a number of larger states have volunteered to help bear the burden of providing accommodation for the leaders.
Despite this, the host country will remain responsible for security during the conference.
To this end, assistance from the RSS countries is being sought and has been pledged, and a dedicated satellite team is being organized to ensure the safety of all attendees.
The Minister also informed the Cabinet that the registration of drivers and inspection of vehicles will take place during this month.
This is an important step to ensure that all attendees are safe and secure during their travels to and from the conference.
Overall, the Foreign Minister has assumed primary responsibility for the conduct of the SIDS4 Conference and has shared a plethora of other important details with the Cabinet.
With these preparations in place, the conference is expected to be a success and will help address important issues that affect Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
