Information Minister Melford Nicholas disclosed to the media this morning that the cabinet “made a proposal for the acquisition of land” at Willoughby Bay to an investor who is interested in building 90 villas for sale to potential Citizenship by Investment Programme (CIP) applicants.
According to the Cabinet notes, Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to Lebanon was invited to their meeting to introduce his proposed investment at Willoughby Bay.
According to the notes, “His model is very much the same as that employed by several successful investors and he has shown a capacity to deliver on his promises in the past.”
Nicholas elaborated, stating that the government has excess of 300 acres of land in the area and the idea is to “exploit the land we resource that we have.”
He says that CIP applicants have indicated that “they are not just interested in the citizenship and a passport.
They would like to enjoy a home in Antigua” As such, there is a niche market to exploit.
Nicholas said that the Ambassador asked for an acre of land to establish somewhat of a gated community “almost like a nature park…in keeping with a type of wooded environment” and “once approval is complete, they will start almost immediately.”
The government believes that the investment will generate more than one hundred million dollars’ worth of economic activity.
So let me get this straight. These people will have their own separate community? They are Antiguans for all intents and purposes — but they’re separate from us!!! Yeah. Keep it up! It won’t be long before their children are in positions of power, and are oppressing our descendants!! HAVEN’T WE LEARNED ANYTHING FROM HISTORY???!!! 🤷🤦
