A woman testified in court yesterday to being raped twice in a single day by an ex-boyfriend who was enraged by the suspicion that she was involved with someone else.
The woman told the court that they dated for about six months in 2019 and the incident occurred about a month after they broke up, July 22, 2019.
The 32-year-old woman stated that on the day in question, she received a call from the accused,36, from an unfamiliar number.
He informed her that he had something for her, so they agreed to meet before she went to work.
When they met, she got into the darkly tinted car he had rented and was compelled to turn off her phone and surrender it.
He then took her to an empty lot in Bendals where he assaulted her, accusing her of being involved with someone else.
She denied the accusation but he still punched and choked her.
She denied the accusation but he still punched and choked her.
He eventually had (sexual intercourse) with her against her will.
Later, he brought her to his parents’ house and repeated the act before falling asleep while still on top of her.
Upon waking, he drove her home, after which she promptly contacted her father and was escorted to the police station, where the incident was reported and an examination was subsequently conducted.
The trial is currently in progress before Justice Ann Marie Smith at the High Court but is expected to be brief.
