LIAT 2020 less than a month away from first flight.
Despite failing to make its own April deadline for LIAT 2020’s first flight, the government appears optimistic that the regional carrier will take to the skies soon.
Hurst relayed assurances from the interim chairman of LIAT, stating, “He assured me that we are less than a month away.”
“We are weeks away, he says. We might even be a week away. He was very, very optimistic. But we certainly hope that the AOC could be issued,” he added.
He said the plan was to have the first plane in the air before Whit Monday “to fly as many people over to Barbuda on the LIAT aircraft to the new airstrip in Barbuda.”
Meanwhile, Hurst anticipates flight routes extending to destinations like St. Lucia, Barbados, Grenada, and Guyana shortly after LIAT 2020 secures its Air Operation License (AOC).
