The committal hearing for Dayneri Ferrer Vincent-Urlwin, charged with causing death by dangerous driving in a collision that claimed the life of Police Constable Robert Dyer last year, has been rescheduled.
Originally set for Tuesday in Traffic Court, the hearing has been postponed to June 4.
Vincent-Urlwin is accused of driving a Jeep Wrangler involved in the collision with Dyer’s motorcycle on September 4, resulting in the officer’s tragic demise.
The collision occurred around 11:20 am on the Sir Sydney Walling Highway, with Dyer traveling east to west and the Jeep heading in the opposite direction.
Allegedly making a right turn into Luna Park, the defendant collided with the officer, who had just overtaken some vehicles.
If the case proceeds to the High Court, Vincent-Urlwin will answer to the charge before a judge in the High Court, potentially leading to a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment if convicted.
