The repairs at the Boys Training School are now complete, however, it will take another few weeks because the facility is occupied.

Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Lionel Hurst said the fencing around the perimeter of the facility has to be completed before it is ready for occupancy.

There are also some delays with the new cemetery at Tomlinson’s.  Work must be done to complete the fencing, an administrative building and a car park before burials can occur.

Hurst said this means a shift in the August timeline, as Health Minister Sir Molwyn Joseph had indicated.

“When funerals take place there will be dozens of vehicles and we cannot have a building up on the Factory Road Highway to ensure there is no desecration of any graves, it is necessary to have secure fencing all around the area where burials will take place,” Hurst said.

A non-denominal chapel will also be built to limit the cost of funerals for families seeking alternative arrangements.
