Lyrical Reds performing in the Soca Monarch quarterfinals last night
The Soca Monarch semi-finalists have been announced, with 25 artistes selected from a pool of nearly 70 competitors.
The intense quarterfinals, which took place last evening, showcased an array of talented local performers, presenting a significant challenge for the judges.
After careful deliberation, the following individuals were chosen to advance to the next round: Tammy, Tian, Romel, Zan, Bless Eye, Lyrical Reds, Raiine, DJ Who, Soca Villain, Kimmy, Young Lyrics, Lyrics Man, Buttaz, Ebony T, Young Voice, Paris, Ge’Eve, Thalia, Sammy C, Vicious, Dior, Island Prince, Drastic, Kid Fresh, and Naycha Kid.
Following the semifinals, only 12 contestants will be selected to compete against last year’s two reigning Monarchs, Claudette Peters and Empress.
This year’s competition format has been modified, eliminating the separate groovy and jumpy segments in Favor of a single joint competition that will crown only one winner.
The prize structure for the competition has been established as follows: The Monarch will receive $50,000, the first runner-up will earn $40,000, and the second runner-up will be awarded $30,000. All unplaced finalists will receive $8,000 each.
