The government is optimistic the Barbuda Airport will be opened in 16 days

BARBUDA AIRPORT

Within an another 15 days is the new timeline the government has announced for the opening of the international airport on the sister island of Barbuda.

Chief of Staff in the Prime Minister’s Officer Lionel Hurst said a bit of fine tuning is being done as we speak.

However, the opening is imminent.

“The training of the fire personnel stationed at the airport, they are learning to handle the equipment and they must pass certain test before the green light is given”, Hurst said.

Several officials are expected to be in attendance at the planned opening.

Hurst is hopeful members of the Barbuda Council will be among those in attendance.

“The airport will have the green light to open up and then we are going to have a big opening ceremony,” he said
