Malachi Martin, Kergus Martin’s son, is still in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre as he fights for his life.

Kergus Martin was gunned down last week. He died from his injuries.
According to the police, an unknown assailant, armed, masked, and wearing dark clothing, fired several shots at a group of people under a tent around 11 pm as Carnival festivities drew to a close a short distance away.

Now, sources close to the matter have reported that 18-year-old Martin, who is from Liberta, remains in a critical state; his condition has worsened over the past few days.

Malachi was one of four men injured in a shooting at Shanty Town at the East Bus Station. He sustained gunshot wounds to his right and left upper chest. His 43-year-old father, a resident of Liberta, also sustained multiple gunshot wounds to several parts of the body.

Wayne Knowles, 29, of Gambles, who was also wounded in the incident, was moved out of the ICU last week and placed on the surgical ward after sustaining gunshot injuries in the abdomen.

A 17-year-old was injured as well but was treated at the hospital and later discharged. The police are still urging anyone with information that can assist with the investigations to contact the nearest police station.
