A church service, attended by over 500 people at the Bible Speaks Seventh Day Adventist Church marked the official start of the week of activities commemorating the 56th annual police week under the theme “Combining our efforts to achieve safety and security “.
Commissioner of Police Atlee Rodney during his opening remarks indicated that the 2024 week of activities has been scaled down somewhat to accommodate the growing demands on the police force in recent months.
“You are mindful that our main responsibility is to maintain law and order and protect our citizens”. In 2024 we were asked to provide policing services for the 4th International Conference for Small Island Developing States (SIDS 4), Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, hurricane relief assistance, Carnival, addressing an increase in crime and other events,” Rodney said.
He said despite the heavy workload they remain steadfast and focused on the task at hand and those efforts are now showing positive results.
“I want to assure you that within the Royal Police Force of Antigua Barbuda, we will not become complacent. We remain committed to the safety and security of all,” Rodney said.
He also pledges the force’s full collaboration with the other important stakeholders to continue the work ahead.
