The country’s leader, Gaston Browne, surprised everyone by spending more than two hours at the General Post Office on Monday.

During this time, he demonstrated to the workers that despite the deplorable working conditions, work can still be carried out effectively.

The half-day workers at the post office had been on strike, advocating for better working conditions. Their complaints included a foul odor, a leaking rooftop, and a building contaminated by mold.

However, Prime Minister Gaston Browne took the initiative to leave his office and actively engage in the duties at the General Post Office as if he were a regular employee.

His actions had a profound impact on the workers. One worker expressed shock at the prime minister’s unexpected arrival and commended his ability to seamlessly blend in and start working.

The prime minister’s demonstration emphasized that despite the building’s issues, productivity was still achievable.

He addressed the importance of continuing work, especially to ensure that essential services, such as delivering payments to pensioners, are not disrupted.

Currently, the workers at the General Post Office are on half-day shifts due to ongoing preparations for a new building. Their ongoing struggle for improved working conditions has been a longstanding issue.
