Police say a 17-year-old male is now in custody following a stabbing in Barnes Hill last evening.

He was handed over to the St John’s Police by one of his parents this afternoon, and has since been taken to the Coolidge Station.

The teenager, whose name cannot be revealed because he is still a minor, is the suspect in the stabbing of 18 year old Jvaughn Farrell of New Winthorpes.

Police say the incident happened about 9 Saturday night as Farrell was at a friend’s home in Barnes Hill.

A silver car drove up with occupants reportedly armed with guns and knives. One of the occupants reportedly stabbed Farrell several times before fleeing the scene in the car.

Farrell is now in a critical condition in hospital.

  1. Very good parent his blood shall not be on your shoulder.

    • This is a change. Usually parents in antigua uphold their children in their wrong. None of this is happening in this family. Good parent. Kudos to you. No criminal in your home

  3. Well done parent. We need more like you. Never put hand in fire for your children.

    • He is a 17 year old. His prefrontal cortex is not developed enough to fully understand the consequences of his actions yet, this happens at age 25, so locking up and rehabilitation is required, but at some point he must be re-introduced to the society. I wonder if we have proper rehabilitation programs in prison to help these young people and prisoners cope when they leave?

I applaud the parent for recognising that the child needs to face the consequences of his actions and taking him into custody. It’s a good start for the collective responsibility we need to see from adults.

I pray the victim recovers from his injuries and our young people no longer feel the need to stab each other over foolish issues like gang territories or misplaced emotions.

Looking at the current state of affairs should make us recognise that we need God in our society in a big way, and not just on a Sunday. We need prayer warriors willing to pray and intercede for our children and society. Jesus is coming back soon. We need to be ready!
May God bless Antigua and Barbuda, it’s government and citizens in Jesus Name, Amen 🙏🏽

  7. Parents protecting their children, in cases like this, let me advise “Yesss+++” is more instinctive than “Antiguan”.Why do some people always throw Antigua under the bus in everything great and small???.🤔🤔
That being said, the parent(s) must be commended for doing the right thing. As painful as it might have been for you to do, as a parent, you did the right and proper thing. Hopefully your might inspire other parents facing similar dilemmas to do the right thing. Turn them in to law enforcers to face the consequences of their actions. Do not condone bad/criminal behavior.
Remember, however, that children do not become criminals overnight.
