Abuse of Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

The integrity of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is under siege as scandal brews within the department. A growing number of EMS personnel are speaking out against the repeated and inappropriate use of their services by a prominent politician, claiming that their vital resources are being misused for non-emergency matters.

According to sources within the service, certain members of the EMS have refused to respond to calls from the politician’s residence, citing an abuse of the system. These staff members, who have sworn to protect and serve the public during real medical crises, are outraged that they are being summoned to administer treatments such as intravenous drips to a politician who frequently finds himself in a drunken stupor.

One EMS responder, speaking anonymously, said, “This is not what we signed up for. We are here to save lives and respond to emergencies, not to babysit politicians who can’t manage their alcohol. It’s a slap in the face to our profession and to the people who genuinely need us.”

The situation is further complicated by reports that some EMS personnel, willing to overlook the misuse of services, continue to respond to these non-emergency calls in exchange for generous tips. This has sparked a divide within the service, with some staff calling for accountability and the immediate cessation of such practices.

“While we’re being dragged to the home of a politician for completely avoidable situations, there are real emergencies happening—people in desperate need of medical attention. It’s unethical, and it needs to stop,” said another frustrated EMS worker.

This is a serious matter that warrants immediate attention. Public officials must respect the role and limitations of emergency services, and EMS personnel must uphold the integrity of their profession. If this pattern of misuse continues unchecked, genuine medical emergencies could be sidelined in favor of tending to a privileged few.

An immediate investigation is warranted into this alleged abuse by politicians and others, including family members and personal friends of EMS personnel as has been whispered by certain EMS workers in the past. The Ministers responsible for Health, Finance and Social Transformation need to initiate such an investigation asap.

    Good morning public,
Well somebody bones got burn here, I say this because, it is a long time this abuse, has been going on in the system and and all the oppotents knows about this. It is also in the EMS of itself,so the system needs to revamp and get things in order because if the top is bad, so is the middle and bottom, And I want to be honest, their are political devides in the system of itself, this is why when some not getting their way with things, that the time they see all the faults of other people right where they are, be carefully what you ask for and leave yourself out in system, because knock back harder the first blow fired and that is all I am saying, be fair first in everything you,not because you may like or have your way ,only there and then you raise hell about the system and things.
