Two investors from a firm specializing in chicken part exports have unveiled their ambitious plans to establish a modern chicken meat processing plant in Antigua.
According to insiders familiar with the ongoing discussions, the market for chicken feet—particularly the potential for export to China—presents a lucrative opportunity.
The proposed facility will feature state-of-the-art broiler rearing and butchering processes aimed primarily at local consumption.
However, chicken feet, which are not commonly eaten in the region, will be targeted for export.
Antigua and Barbuda represent an attractive opportunity for chicken meat production, as the country imports millions of dollars’ worth of chicken each year.
The planned plant will include extensive freezer and chiller units, requiring over 3,000 square feet of space.
Construction of the factory will begin in three months, followed by an additional three months to acquire the necessary equipment.
The chicks will need several months of careful feeding and nurturing before the production phase begins.
