Residents will wait until December 5th to learn how the Gaston Browne-led administration will allocate funds, and touch on the GDP and other debt for the country for the new year.
The news was announced in this week’s Cabinet notes.
The Budget Office has already requested the business plans from all ministries and the final budget will be completed by the 14th of November and then to be sent to the printers.
By the 28th of November, the Estimates will be circulated, and the Throne Speech is to be delivered on that same day.
On 5th December, the Budget presentation will take place in Parliament, and on 10th December the budget debate will commence.
Chief of Staff in the Prime Minister’s office Lionel Hurst assured that Opposition members who have complained in the past about receiving the budget too late to make proper assessments for the budget debate.
They went on to boycott the debate and held their version of the event.
Last year, the 2024 budget speech was delivered by Prime Minister Gaston Browne is also the finance minister.
The $1.9 billion-dollar budget-themed “Securing our Future through Enhanced Fiscal Responsibility” saw the Ministry of Education, Creative Industries and Innovations receive the lion share of the budget, with its recurrent expenditure tagged at $198.6 million.
The Prime Minister’s Ministry received $177.7 million, while the Ministry of Health, Wellness, Social Transformation and the Environment was allocated $160. 5 million.
